ARTWORK - China (Chinese Gods)

Title: The Court of Qin Guang Wang.

Medium: Giclée on Canvas.

Date: 2009

Size: Variable

Edition: 99

This is an image based on the 'God of the underworld', who uses a mirror to reflect the sins of the souls before him.

In this image, I used artistic licence to create 3 mirrors for a more dramatic composition.

Title: Chang'e & Houyi.

Medium: Giclée on Canvas.

Date: 2009

Size: Variable

Edition: 99

This is an image based on the story of Chang'e and her husband, Houyi, who shot down the 9 suns who were also the sons of the Jade Emperor. As a result, both were banished to live on Earth as punishment.

Chang'e drank an elixir to get her to heaven, but unfortunately only made it half-way and ended up in the moon.

She lives there with a jade rabbit that creates elixirs.

Title: Sun Wukong & Buddha.

Medium: Giclée on Canvas.

Date: 2009

Size: Variable

Edition: 99

This is an image based on the story of the Monkey King who tried to prove he was more powerful than Buddha, when he bet him that he could leap from Buddha's hand into the desert at the end of the Earth.

In the desert, he thought he'd found the 'Pillars of Knowledge' and had won his bet, but discovered later they were the fingers of Buddha and he had never left his hand.

As a result, he was placed under a mountain for 500 years to contemplate his arrogance.
