This is one of a series that I have created by building sculptures from the pages of related books, which in this case is one based on military machines.

The original concept for the series came from my interest in both the traditional cut-out paper and the pop-up book techniques, as well as inspiration from the works by the Danish artist Peter Callesen.

I was asked to submit work for the Army Show, an annual exhibition in Fremantle. The idea of using a fragile medium to depict a destructive vehicle of war was the intention of this work. The Apache helicopter was also used successfully, in Afghanistan, by the Australian forces.
