This is one of a series that I have created by building sculptures from the pages of related books, which in this case is based on domestic violence.

The original concept for the series came from my interest in both the traditional cut-out paper and the pop-up book techniques, as well as inspiration from the works by the Danish artist Peter Callesen.

The intention of this sculpture is to document the issues surrounding domestic violence, especially to women.

The knife in the heart, not only addresses the physical act, but also alludes to the psychological abuse of the victim in some cases. Red wine was introduced to represent blood, as well as a symbol for alcohol, which often perpetuates the violence.
