This is one of a series that I have created by building sculptures from the pages of related books, in this case the galleon was made from the pages of a book about pirate hunters.

The original concept for the series came from my interest in both the traditional cut-out paper and the pop-up book techniques, as well as inspiration from the works by the Danish artist Peter Callesen.

The galleon was specifically chosen, as the subject matter, because of my past love of pirate stories, that for me symbolized travel, lost treasures, romance and adventure. Luckily for me, the genre continues today through books and movies like ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and ‘Black Sails’.
