I have always been fascinated by the idea of ‘Secret Safe Books’ which are real books that have been hollowed out to create a hidden storage area inside.

I am also enthusiastic about Steampunk and into recycling, as much as possible. So, this is one of a series that incorporates both.

I found an old book, titled ‘Doors of Opportunity’ and repurposed it into a steampunk style Secret Safe Book, by covering the book in paper, as well as objects made of Paper Mâché. The outside was then painted with metallic acrylic paints and the interior hollowed out.

The intention is to make the books look old and used, so any blemishes are utilized.
