Title: Higashizawa Bridge
Date: 1994
Medium: Giclée on Paper
Size: 38cm x 27cm
Edition: 99
This is the one of twelve images I created during my travels through Japan.
The bridge is one of many sites to see in Izu. It simply allows traffic to pass over the ravine formed by volcanic lava flows from long ago.
However, it's painted in orange, so dramatically stands out against the backdrop of green. I wanted to highlight the geometric style of the bridge against the organic background.
I have used a stippling method, of small dots, applied by a felt pen, to create the original drawing that is used for the giclée process.
