Title: Bottles
Date: 2004
Medium: Monoprint
Size: 30cm x 21cm
This image is one of several monoprints that I created while staying at Susan Rostow's studio in Grenich village in New York in 2004.
Susan had invented a special printmaking ink, and was letting artists trial its versatility. My inspiration for the imagery, was just items around her studio, which included bottles, glasses, cups and jars of paint.
This monoprint was made by applying various layers of colour onto a glass plate and then working into the layers with brushes and other tools. The glass plate and paper were then rolled through an etching press, under pressure, to transfer the image from the glass to the paper.
