Title: Lei Kung & Tien Mu
Date: 2011
Medium: Giclée on Canvas
Size: 76x51cm
Edition: 99

Lei Kung’s specialty is thunder, so he is capable of producing various types of heavenly phenomena. His wife is Tien Mu, the Mother of Lightning.

There are many variations of Lei Kung, but the one in this image is where he is a strong man, who exposes his chest, has two wings on his back, and has three eyes in his forehead, Almost as a contrast, Tien Mu appears as an elegant woman with mirrors in both her hands.

The original functions of Lei Kung and Tien Mu were to formerly administer thunder and lightning. But since the pre-Qin days and the two Han dynasties, they have evolved into gods who punish evil-doers and reward honourable people. They right the wrongs of the world, punishing hidden misdeeds, and striking rogues to death.

In this image, the sins of a man has caused Tien Mu to destroy his home with fire.
