This image is one of a series that I created that examines the Chinese Mythological coupling of specific flora and fauna.

In Chinese mythology, cranes are often painted with other important symbols, such as peonies and pine trees.

The image of a crane, with its wings stretched out and one leg raised up, is the symbol of longevity. When it is combined with pine trees, it also indicates persistence, tenacity, and dignity.
