This image is one of a series that I created that examines the Chinese Mythological coupling of specific flora and fauna.

In Chinese mythology, a crane flies in the sky above the dusty world, therefore the bird is considered a symbol of cleanliness and purity.

A dream about a flying crane is also a good omen, predicting that the dreamer is going to become a high official. The crane also carries the spirit of the departed to heaven, according to Chinese legends.
