This was an image that I created for an exhibition entitled 'Thong Thing'.

In Australia, the humble thong is the standard footwear for the beach, so I thought I would try to create a feel of sand and water dispersed by a pair of well used thongs.

I carved a piece of styrofoam into the shape of two feet. This was used as a template for wet hand-made paper to be shaped into the thongs. Handmade paper was also used as the straps.
