ARTWORK - Australia
Title: On the Beach.
Medium: Hand-made Paper.
Date: 1989
Size: 44cm x 36cm
Edition: Unique State
This was an image that I made for an exhbition entitled 'Thong Thing'.
In Australia, the humble thong is the standard footwear for the beach, so I thought I would try to create a feel of sand and water dispersed by a pair of well used thongs.
Title: Old Relic
Medium: Hand-made Paper, Gold Paint & boot polish.
Date: 1990
Size: 44cm x 36cm
Edition: Unique State
This was an image based on an old Hindu plaque.
I have always been interested in stories and artifacts of the different religons.
I wanted tp create the feeling of an old broken relic that may have been buried for years.
Title: Play it Again, Sam.
Medium: Etching & Aquatint.
Date: 1991
Size: 60cm x 40cm
Edition: 99
This was a pun on the 'Cat Organ'. This device supposedly had cat tails attached to keys so that when they were depressed by a human player, the cats' tails were pulled and their screeches made a cacophony of sound. This image is a parody of a cat playing a human piano.
The title is from the movie 'Casablanca', and although these words were never really spoken, it seemed an appropriate title.
The surrounding images are a brief testament to how cats have been viewed in history.
